Best Practice Guidelines: Communicating with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Communities

The Community Languages Information Network Group (CLING) is an inter-agency network established to advocate for improving communication with CALD communities, following the Canterbury earthquakes of 2010-11.

CLING have recently updated their Best Practice Guidelines on how to communicate with CALD communities.

The Guidelines were based on findings from a literature review, as well as consultation with key stakeholders including CALD communities, and information sent by statutory agencies about their CALD disaster communications.

The Guidelines include recommendations for agencies and CALD communities to help ensure better engagement during and after disasters.
