Eligibility and enrolment

The New Zealand publicly funded health and disability workforce are eligible for the Ministry of Health funded face-to-face and online CALD Cultural Competency "Courses for Working with CALD Patients"; face-to-face "Courses for Culturally Diverse Workplaces" and face-to-face and online “Courses for Interpreters.”

Eligibility criteria for free enrolment

How do you determine if you (as an individual) is eligible for free enrolment?

  • You are either a health practitioner or health workforce including customer service, administration or non-clinical roles working in a:
    • primary, secondary and tertiary care organisation
    • non-governmental health organisation (NGO).
  • You are a private practitioner (clinician) working in non-eligible organisations, eg a nurse working in a school. In this instance the school is a non-eligible organisation, however, the private practitioner is eligible to register as an individual private practitioner.

How do you determine if your organisation is eligible for free enrolment?

  • Your organisation is primary care or secondary care or tertiary care or non-governmental organisation (NGO) partially or fully funded by the Ministry of Health or District Health Boards.
  • Your organisation is the Ministry of Health.

First Timers: How to open an account and enrol for a CALD course

For Counties Manukau DHB and Auckland DHB employees

You can enrol eCALD® face to face courses via your DHB's Learning & Development system. However, to enrol for eCALD® online courses please enrol via the eCALD® learning management system using the following steps.

For everyone else who are first timers

Please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open an eCALD® Account via the Login page located on the Top Menu Bar

  • Click the CREATE AN ACCOUNT button, the account application form will display.
  • NB: Enter your work-related email e.g. name@procare.co.nz or name@adhb.govt.nz.
  • If you don't have a work email address, please enter your manager's name and work email address on the form.
  • Your application will be verified and approved by eCALD Admin.
  • You will receive an email advising your application status (within 5 working days).

Step 2: Course Enrolment

  • You can only enrol for courses after your account has been approved.
  • Once approved: go to the Login page and log in to your account with your username (email address) and password.
  • Once you are in your account, go to MAKE AN ENROLMENT, then select the course you wish to enrol.
  • NB: Your manager will also receive a notification of your course enrolment. They will not be required to approve the enrolment. It is your responsibility to inform your manager about your course enrolment(s) before you enrol.

Important notice

  • Please read and observe our eCALD® Terms and Conditions
  • eCALD® Admin has the discretion and right to decline your account application and course enrolment if:
    • the information you provided are incorrect or inadequate
    • you or your organisation are not eligible to access the funded courses.

 

Existing account holders: How to enrol for other courses

For Counties Manukau DHB and Auckland DHB employees

If you wish to enrol for further free face-to-face CALD courses, you need to enrol via your DHB's Learning & Development system. To enrol for other online CALD courses you can enrol via the eCALD® learning management system using the following process.

For everyone else

To enrol for a new course

 Click Login located on the Top Menu Bar

  1. Log in to your account by entering your Username (email address) and your Password. 
    If you have forgotten your password, Click FORGOT PASSWORD.
  2. Once you are in your account, go to MAKE AN ENROLMENT, then select the course you wish to enrol.

What will happen after you have completed the enrolment

  • Your course enrolment will be verified by eCALD® Admin and you will receive the enrolment status within 5 working days.
  • eCALD® Admin has the discretion and right to decline your enrolment if you have enrolled the same online course for more than 10 times or if you are not complying with eCALD® Terms and Conditions.
  • If your Enrolment has been approved: You will receive an auto-email confirmation with the course details.
  • If your Enrolment has been declined: You will receive an auto email notifying that your enrolment has been declined.
  • NB: Your manager will also receive an auto-email of your enrolment status.

Existing Users: How to check your enrolment status

  1. Click Login located on the Top Menu Bar.
  2. Log in to your account by entering your Username <email address> and your Password. 
    NB: If you have forgotten your password, Click on FORGOT PASSWORD.
  3. When you are in your account, you will be able to see your enrolment status of the face to face or online course(s) on the HOME page.

 

Enrolment/Course Bookings - when not eligible for free courses

Individuals

If you are not eligible for eCALD® courses and would like to pay to access our available face-to-face scheduled course(s) or online course(s), please send a request to eCALD Admin.

  • Cost of individual enrolment for scheduled face-to-face courses or online CALD courses: $300 + GST per course enrolment.
  • Online courses can be undertaken anywhere in New Zealand, at work or at home at your convenience.

Groups

To book a face-to-face course for a group of participants for your organisation to be held in Auckland or outside of Auckland, please send your request to eCALD Admin to obtain a quote.
